FLOWER CHILD COFFEE

Mabel Moreno

Mabel Moreno

Variety: Pacas

Farm: Piedras Amarillas

Region: Santa Bárbara, Honduras

Altitude: 1,650 Meters

Process: Fully Washed

Harvest: June 2023

Notes: Golden Delicious Apple, Honey & Tamarind.

Mabel Moreno's Pacas is our favorite coffee selection from Honduras this year. A very good representation of the Pacas variety with long yellow fruits, viscous-weighted mouthfeel with a honeyed nuance. Medium sweet and balanced when the cup is hot, cooling with a rich sweetness and balanced brown sugar character.

We've been tasting coffees out of the San Vicente Mill in Santa Barbara, Honduras for almost a decade now. It's always impressive to see what the family comes up with despite the natural disasters and variables with organic farming. The Moreno's always crush it. Piedras Amarillas farm is a communal project between three of the Moreno brothers: Mario, Danny, and Mabel, and consistently produces high quality Pacas, Bourbon, and Catuai. The Morenos have been a cornerstone of coffee production in Santa Bárbara, dating back to their father, Daniel Moreno, who purchased his first farm in 1963. Mabel has beautifully built on his father's legacy with this year's small but well-vetted quality lot.

Only one 69kg bag of these seeds made it through with Mabel's approval this year. We are stoked that Mabel Moreno's coffee is our last offering from Honduras this year, it's a bright finish!

Best cuppeed/brewed after two weeks of roast date.
